Welcome to my blog. Stories from the Archives is a collection of stories and tales found during my time carrying out family history research in Archives offices across the country.
These stories and the characters are all based on real people, their tales have been researched through documents held at Archive offices, newspaper and other sources such as census returns and more.
The stories feature lady swindlers, bigamists and fake policemen. I will add more as I come across them.
My name is Clare and I have been researching my family tree for over 20years. I am the Researcher for Family History at Shropshire Archives and I have also helped friends and family with their family trees. Over the years, as I have visited Archives offices and looked at documents and newspapers, these stories have caught my attention and research into them has revealed great characters and their interesting lives.
I hope that you enjoy them as much I have enjoyed finding out about them.
